Scintillating talks, dance shows, and orchestral concerts, Royal Festival Hall is a mighty cultural hot-spot in London. Eclectic too. Last year, the Hall featured the epic gothic rock group Evanescence. Next month – 10th February to be exact – the Hall will be paying homage to the legendary composer George Gershwin. The concert will feature iconic Gershwin compositions such as ‘Summertime’, ‘I Got Rhythm’, and ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’.
The mastermind behind Gershwin Reimagined is composer Troy Miller. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Miller has supported the likes of Roy Ayers and Amy Winehouse. He has produced music for Adele and Gregory Porter and has composed pieces for various high-profile orchestras.
Backed by the Philharmonia Orchestra, Miller’s reimagined Gershwin compositions will be delivered by Laura Mvula and Shaun Escoffery. Mvula is a MOBO and Ivor Novello award-winning soul artist whose two studio albums garnered critical acclaim. In addition to his theatre appearances in Parade and The Lion King, Escoffery has released several soul/R&B albums. He has been championed by the likes of Elton John and radio DJ Trevor Nelson.
