The Innervisions Festival was the jewel in the crown of 2018 soul events. During London’s exceptionally hot July, legendary soul singers (mostly from the US) performed across a range of venues. The House That Soul Built reviewed neo-soul/R&B star Angie Stone, soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples, and the funky and magnetic Meshell Ndegeocello.
Praise be to the Soul Gods as the Innervisions Festival is returning in July 2019. Running from 3rd-7th July, the Festival includes some names from last year’s lineup (Mavis Staples, Carroll Thompson) but also a roster of new artists. As it stands, the current lineup includes: Van Morrison, Thievery Corporation, Aloe Blacc, Mavis Staples, Gilberto Gil, Maceo Parker, Fela Kuti: Saluting the Black President, Jarrod Lawson, Janet Kay & Caroll Thompson, and more!
Tickets for individual gigs can be bought here! Read below for some of our highlights in the lineup.
Mavis Staples
A legendary artist who at the age of 82 still performs and sings with utter magic. Her most recent album, Live in London, was recorded at the Union Chapel where she performed for last year’s Innervisions. Staples will be performing at The Roundhouse on 4th July 2019.
Van Morrison
Another legacy artist, Van Morrison is a much-lauded singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland whose discography has spanned soul, rock, jazz, blues, and folk. He is performing at The Roundhouse on 6th and 7th July.
Aloe Blacc
A more contemporary soul artist who rocketed up the UK charts with his breakout single ‘I Need a Dollar’. Blacc is performing at The Roundhouse on 3rd July.
