In another fantastic booking for BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night, Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May will be performing music from seminal Irish artists at the London Palladium this May.
‘An Evening of Celtic Soul’Â features the music of Thin Lizzy, U2, Damien Rice, Hozier, Glen Hansard, The Cranberries, The Chieftains and more. Ms May will be backed by the phenomenal Leo Green Orchestra, who we saw at the Palladium with Beverley Knight last November.
After supporting Jools Holland on tour and appearing on Later… With Jools Holland, May released her critically acclaimed sophomore album Love Tattoo (2009) – recently announced as the best-selling album of all time by a homegrown female artist in Ireland.
May has also performed at the Grammy Awards ceremony alongside rock guitarist Jeff Beck. Her last album Life Love Flesh Blood (2017) saw May diverge somewhat from her rockabilly origins and venture into jazz and soul territory. Check out her sublime performance of ‘Black Tears’ below.
An Evening of Celtic Soul Starring Imelda May takes place on 6th May 2019 at the London Palladium. You can buy tickets here!Â
