LA-based songstress Cooper Phillip joins forces with fellow musician Chaz Mason for a contemporary R&B duet about finding that elusive chemistry with someone.
Mason, currently touring with Kanye West, begins the track. As Mason glides gently into his falsetto, Phillip meets him at the airy chorus and lends smooth and clean vocals to the track.
Born in Russia to a family of classical musicians, Phillip learned to sing by studying the inflection and style of Ella Fitzgerald. After moving to New York at age 17 and hustling around the city’s live music scene for a few years, Phillips moved to LA and has remained there since.
Strength and empowerment is at the heart of her lyrics. “I believe we underestimate ourselves often and our fear takes over. My goal is to show people that they are stronger and can do much more than they think they can”, she explains.

I am a guitarist with a deep love of classic soul, R&B funk and blues. Most of the RB and funk I listen to, play and enjoy are of the late sixties and seventies and a bit of eighties. It is real easy to find blues jams and gigs but other than on line FB interest groups there are no venues in South FL for the roots stuff I’m into. It was refreshing to come upon your
Article and music vids. Love to know of any other sources for RB and funk. I did sign onto your site. Any other leads and sources would be appreciated. Thanks
