With a background in directing gospel choirs, bluesy songstress Izo FitzRoy wrote and recorded her debut album while working in New Orleans. She found success touring around Europe with producers such as Dr RobberFunk and Kraak and Smaak. She has also won recognition from BPI and PRS for her songwriting prowess.

‘Blind Faith’ is the third single from FitzRoy’s upcoming album How The Mighty Fall, released on Brighton-based label Jalapeno Records.

At the start of 2019 I started listening to a lot of lovely soul and dance tracks which revolve around a funky riff. I had 45:33 by LCD Soundsystem on repeat as well as a lot of old Prince demos so that kicked off the initial framework of Blind Faith. Whilst thematically, the song is fairly melancholic, I definitely wanted Blind Faith to get people up on their feet.

The track has a disco-flecked, polished groove, helmed by FitzRoy’s dark, low tones. There is a slick transition into a gospel vamp climax with strings, the Haggis Horns, and Fitzroy’s own Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir blending nicely.
