Lianne La Havas – one of Britain’s breakout soul successes of the 2010s – will be joining forces with the esteemed BBC Symphony Orchestra for a special one-night-only event at The Barbican this coming February.
Released in 2012, La Havas’ debut album Is Your Love Big Enough impressed with its genre-blending sensibility. Championed by the likes of Jools Holland – with whom she has delivered some fabulous performances – La Havas quickly mopped up a series of award nominations, winning the iTunes’ Best Album of 2012 award.
The BBC SO will be delivering orchestral renditions from Havas’ debut album and sophomore release Blood (2015). The event will be conducted and arranged by Jules Buckley, the SO’s new Creative Artist in Association. Buckley did a sensational job conducting the Metropole Orkest for the BBC Proms’ homage to Nina Simone, ranked #4 in The House That Soul Built‘s top soul gigs of 2019.
Lianne La Havas & Jules Buckley with the BBC Symphony Orchestra will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 for BBC Sounds
