rum.gold is an emergent R&B/soul artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Initially uploading songs anonymously to Soundcloud, rum.gold (adapted from his surname ‘Drumgold’) released his debut EP yaRn last year. In an interview with Wonderland, he cites R&B and jazz music as his formative influences.

His latest EP aiMless is out now. He has remained vague about the EP’s conception, but conceded in an interview with Billboard that the project stems from issues in his personal life that are yet to be resolved. He elaborates further:

I think the feelings I’m trying to explore on “aiMless” are much more complex than those of my first EP, because trying to understand why I am the way I am will likely be something I work at for the rest of my life. aiMless is me attempting to explore where I come from, to know where not go. In some ways I feel like I bit off more than I could chew because trying to understand the ways in which trauma cycles through generations and my place in that cycle would require more space than a 4 song EP, but this is just a beginning.’

In his latest single ‘Save You’ rum.gold extends heartfelt support to a loved one. Against a backdrop of humming keys, rum.gold sings with a whispery falsetto, occasionally running down the note with skill and taste. His deeply intimate delivery is spellbinding.
