Disco superstars The Real Thing kick things off on Thursday 2nd June. Original members Chris Amoo and Dave Smith remain pioneers in soul, funk and dance music. The group, formed in 1972, will revisit their hits – like ‘You To Me Are Everything’, ‘Can You Feel The Force?’ and ‘Can’t Get By Without You’ – as well as tracks from their first new album in decades ‘A Brand New Day’.

On Friday 3rd June we welcome, All Day Breakfast Café, a South London all-female band, who are inspired by artists like Chic, Earth Wind and Fire and Patrice Rushton. They combine killer horn arrangements with hard hitting disco grooves which are impossible not to get up and dance to. Rounding out the Disco Fever series on Saturday 4th June are Disco Groove Collective – a unique collaboration of the UK’s finest exponents of Disco coming together to present their take on the classic Disco hits of this golden age. Featuring the lovingly crafted hits of the Emotions, Lipps & Co, Trammps, KC & The Sunshine Band and many more. Expect dance floor classics alongside deep cuts you’ve probably never heard before. DJ Ralph Tee of Expansion Records will also be spinning tunes on Friday and Saturday nights

There is no need to wait until the summer to enjoy world class soul and funk shows, as we have some fantastic artists in our venues to take us through the spring months.

PizzaExpress Live welcomes a variety of artists in the next few months including Northern Soul legend Geno Washington and the Yo Yo’s on 21st April and Leee John over in Soho on 23rd April. That same night, we host a unique recording session with successful soul-pop band, Mamas Gun. The Edwin Starr Band, led by Angelo Starr, are with us on 1st May. Up-and-coming Soul singers Tanqueray Hayward and Amba Tremain also join us in May.

Audiences can experience instrumental funk at its best with shows from City Funk Orchestra (21st May) and The Brit Funk Association (16th June). Reach For It present their show ‘The Genius of George Duke’ on 26th May – celebrating the keyboard legend’s award-winning jazz and funk solo career. More great keyboards can be heard in Holborn on 28th June, as we host the debut of Jamiroquai’s Matt Johnson. We host a celebration of legendary bassist Louis Johnson on 20th May with the Thunderthumbs Project.

Fans of Incognito can enjoy appearances from former vocalist Chris Ballin (12th May) and current singers Tony Momrelle (7th May) and Imaani (10thJune). In fact, great soul vocalists come thick and fast throughout June, as we welcome Natasha Watts, Tommy Blaize, Tony O’Malley and, on 17th June, The British Collective features four of the UK’s finest ever soul singers – each one a headliner in their own right – Don-eJunior GiscombeNoel McKoy and Omar.

PizzaExpress Live presents more than 1,300 shows each year across several venues, including the historic PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho, The Pheasantry in Chelsea, PizzaExpress Live Holborn, and PizzaExpress Live Birmingham. 

Live music has always been an important part of PizzaExpress. Founder Peter Boizot was a jazz lover and constantly sought ways to integrate music into his restaurants, whether at PizzaExpress branches from the late 1960’s, at his other ventures like Pizza on the Park or at Kettner’s from the 1970’s. The flagship venue at 10 Dean Street, London has hosted internationally acclaimed music since its first ticketed shows in May 1976. All our venues have welcomed legendary names such as Amy Winehouse, Brian May, Gregory Porter, Van Morrison, Tony Bennett, Chrissie Hynde, Norah Jones and many more…
