Celebrating the power and dynamism of the human voice, this gala kicks of each iteration of London Jazz Fest. Guy Barker, joined this year by special guest Peter Edwards, and his EFG London Jazz Festival Orchestra will back an eclectic range of soloists, performing material of their choosing: Marisa Monte, Veronica Swift, Damian Lewis, Tony Momrelle, Cherise, Lucy Anne Daniels, Kyra and IAMTHELIVING.

This year, Tomorrow’s Warriors alumna Zara McFarlane released an album in tribute to Sarah Vaughan, spanning Vaughan staples like ‘Tenderly’ and more obscure material like the Brazilian-inspired ‘Obsession’. After a wonderful showing at Ronnie Scott’s earlier this year, McFarlane will be performing the album at Camden’s Jazz Cafe.

Often sporting a popular homage to Billie Holiday, jazz singer Nina Kristofferson will be gracing the stage of The Pheasantry in Chelsea, West London performing material from the Great American Songbook. Expect Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, and more!

Rumer’s debut album Seasons of My Soul (2010) showcased the blue-eyed soul singer’s gorgeously mellow voice, reminiscent of Karen Carpenter. She will be performing the album at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, with musical direction from the seasoned Vula Malinga.
